Монети от проучването на Трансмариска (2020-2021)
Keywords:Transmarisca; Roman coins; archaeological excavations
During archaeological excavations at Transmarisca over 600 coins were discovered, of which only 26 have been published. During excavations in 2020 - 2021 on the territory of the southwestern fortress tower 128 coins were found and presented in this publication. One coin is from 2nd century, 32 from the 3rd, and 83 from the 4th - 5th century. Some of the latter (19 coins) probably represent a portion of a hoard. The coins from the first half of the 4th century predominate, and only four are from the first half of the 5th century. Only one coin is from the 6th century and the rest are from the 20th century. In conclusion, it may be pointed out that due to the small area studied, it is too early to make any generalizations about the coin circulation in Transmarisca.
