Abstract

The Crusades of King Władysław Warneńczyk of 1443 - 1444 against the Ottoman conquerors are among most notable moments in the history of Southwest Europe. After the Christian Coalition lost in the battle of Varna on November 10, 1444, and the death of the young Polish-Hungarian king, the hope of the Balkan peoples for liberation came to an end.

Most of these significant episodes in European history took place in the Bulgarian lands, and the archaeological finds are the direct evidence. The purpose of the current research is to present a numismatic record from that time - a Polish denarius of king Władysław Warneńczyk.
