A rare 18th Century sphragistic artefact from the Bulgarian lands

Abstract

The paper presents a French trade seal from the 18^th century, found probably in the region of Varna. It was used to indicate the type and origin of the goods, here the ‘Second Londrina from Languedoc’. This item is good evidence of the French cloth trade along the Bulgarian coast during the period about which we still know relatively little.
