During the archaeological excavations at Transmarisca more than 700 coins were discovered, 154 of which have been published. During the excavations in 2022 on the territory of the southwestern fortress tower, 79 coins were found and presented in this publication. Thirteen of them belong to the layers from the 1st century and five of them are “purse” coin hoard. Only three of the coins are from the 2nd century, but they were found in later strata. From the 3rd century are 16 coins, and 41 are from the 4th – 5th century. Only one coin is from the 6th century and the rest five are from the 20th century.
Despite to the small area studied, we can reach some important conclusions. Inside of the fortress walls area were found layers from the 1st – 3rd century, but in the same time, outside of the fortress walls, there are layers only from the 4th – 5th century. Earliest coins and finds were found only inside the fortress, that means that the fortress was built in the early Roman times.
