Abstract

The article presents a coin hoard discovered in the early 1960s in the village of Srebarna, Silistra Municipality. The hoard comprises 200 silver coins, the earliest of which of emperor Vespasian, and the terminus post quem issue dated to emperor Caracalla’s independent rule of 217, i.e. the year of his death. It is possible that the hoard was hidden shortly after the latest coin had been struck and reached the lands of Lower Moesia, but the possibility of this occurring at a much later time should not be excluded, as it is not clear how much of its total volume is in the fund of the Regional Museum of History in the town of Silistra.
