The current work presents two lead seals of Emperor Alexius I Comnenus, discovered at the Late Antique and Medieval fortress of Kale Shirokovo. All known lead seals of this emperor, traditionally referred in Bulgarian historiography with the march of the Byzantine army against the Pechenegs in Drastar in 1087, are charted on map. In relation to the two seals from Kale Shirokovo, the author repudiates a similar connection and argues in favour of the opinion that the correspondence between the Imperial chancellery and the governor of the fortress could have occured only after victories of the Byzantine Empire at Lebounion and Anchialos in 1091 and 1094 correspondingly.
