Notes on an interesting signet-ring from the Late Middle Ages

Abstract

Here is presented a silver signet-ring with a negative image of a dragon engraved on its shield and the name of its owner - "Sladan". It was purchased years ago from an antique shop in Sofia, and is now kept in a private collection. The ring is dated to the end of the 14th - the beginning of the 15th century. It is assumed that it was discovered most likely somewhere in Northwest Bulgaria.
